This learning nugget teaches what configuration files are used by MoveIt 2, a package for trajectory planning and execution for ROS 2, the Robot Operating System. ROS is the most-used framework for vendor-agnostic robot control.
MoveIt is a set of libraries within ROS that allows to plan and execute
complex trajectories while avoiding obstacles including moving obstacles
captured from appropriate 3D sensors.
Learning outcomes
- The learners can launch and use the MoveIt Setup Assistant and generate a MoveIt configuration package
- The learners list the different tools configured within the MoveIt configuration package
- The learners generate the file configuring the planning groups and their associated kinematics plugins as well as the matrix for collisions between links
