This nugget will introduce you to Simultaneous Localisation and Mapping, in short SLAM.
SLAM is a popular technique for robots in dynamic or unknown environments.
The robot uses its sensory information, e.g. vision systems, wheel rotations, etc. to build a map of its environment during exploration and estimates its relative position within the map.
Learning outcomes
- Students can report the main tasks of the SLAM algorithm
- Students can use SLAM with TurtleBot3
