This nugget gives the learner an overview of simulating the Panda robotic manipulator using the Gazebo simulator. The Gazebo physics simulator is often used in conjunction with the Robot Operating System (ROS) to test robotic applications before the integration into the real hardware. Our goal is to guide you through the essential steps of integrating the robot with the Gazebo simulation environment. After that, we will proceed to sense obstacles in the simulation using a depth camera with the MoveIt Perception pipeline.
Learning outcomes
- The learners explain the necessary components of robot description packages for the Gazebo simulation
- The learners execute the simulation of compatible hardware with ros2_control in the Gazebo simulation
- The learners experiment with the integration of a depth camera with the MoveIt perception pipeline
