Target:

Workers

This learning path aims at influencing the operators and workers of an industry under the perspective of a Smart Microgrids integration policy.

What are Smart Microgrids?

A smart microgrid is an electricity network in local facilities that uses digital and other advanced technologies to monitor and manage the transport of electricity from all available sources to meet the varying electricity demands of end users. Smart microgrids coordinate the needs and capabilities of all generators, grid operators, end users and electricity market stakeholders to operate all parts of the system as efficiently as possible, minimizing costs and environmental impacts while maximizing system reliability, resilience, flexibility and stability.

  • Destined to inform low-level employees, the learning path is structured in a learner-friendly tone, setting the basis for familiarization with advanced manufacturing and involving topics such as
  • Common energy forms in the factory and saving energy day-to-dayFactory
  • Buildings and Industries 4.0/5.0
  • Large-scale renewable resources (wind, solar, nuclear, geothermal, hydroelectric)
  • Small-scale solar and wind energy
  • Day to day activities with sensors and monitoring
  • AI awareness and elimination of ignorance and reluctance
  • Smart Microgrids at home, in the city and in the factory
  • High-energy demanding processes and general energy costs raising awareness

Learning outcomes

  1. Learners will identify the concepts of the Smart Factory and Smart Microgrids.
  2. Learners will recognize energy-saving every day operations in the factory.
  3. Learners will identify IoT sensors and edge monitoring technologies and fit as an active part of a Smart Microgrid updated factory.
