In mechanical engineering, it is very important to describe the finished workpiece in detail. The words are not enough to be clear and specific; therfore, it has been developed a set of symbols that describe the finished surface in deep detail. The Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T) propose a methodology to describe the surface that is considered accepted once the manufacturing process has been performed.
