The definition of maintenance is more than familiar to most employees. Maintenance, otherwise known as technical maintenance, refers to a set of processes and practices which aim to ensure the continuous and efficient operation of machinery, equipment, and other types of assets typically used in business. Maintenance is found literally in everything running, including both software and hardware parts.

Covering such a wide topic is almost impossible. However, in this nugget an attempt, to discuss most common maintenance tasks and assets involved, will be made. Several industrial sectors will be discussed along with a classification of a task in the level of maintenance it belongs.
