This nugget covers different architectures, computational models, techniques and tools applicable in the development of Cyber Physical Systems and Internet of Things. The programme is the following:

Definition and differences between the concepts of Cyber-Physical Systems (CPS) and the Internet of Things (IoT).CPS and IoT: Reference models, use cases and requirements.

System Architecture of the CPS. Internet of Things vision.Edge devices, end-to-end connectivity and protocols.Middleware/ platforms and interoperability.Software Engineering. Dependability, security & privacy.Novel paradigms in CPS and IoT.


Learning outcomes

  1. Students will be able to recall and define key terms and concepts related to Cyber Physical Systems (CPS) and Internet of Things (IoT).
  2. Students will be able to explain the main principles and functions of Cyber Physical Systems and IoT and provide examples of their applications.
  3. Students will be able to evaluate the advantages and disadvantages of Cyber Physical Systems and IoT, and propose potential solutions to address ethical and social implications.
