Creativity
is a cognitive process studied from the beginning of the twentieth century, for
which methods and tools have been designed to optimise the generation of ideas and the selection of solutions
responding to a specific problem.
The growth
of Virtual Reality technologies and especially head mounted displays, offering
a qualitative immersive experience at low cost, unlocks new possibilities for a
creativity task. It offers users a way
to get immersed in the most appropriate virtual environment according to the
task, stay in motion to imagine their ideas and sketch them with natural
gestures. The participants can also directly test or review the generated data.
In the interior or furniture design process, this means reviewing the furniture
sketch before entering the design phase, anticipating the use of the space, saving
time and avoiding design errors.
To create
an effective immersive creativity session in a furniture design process, a
number of functions must be deployed and a number of requirements must be met. The
nugget will go through these functions and describe possible implementations
and use in this context.
Learning outcomes
- By the end of the module, learners are able to describe the key functions of an immersive creativity session and their role
