SUMMARY
Stakeholder assessment under the European Sustainability Reporting Standards (ESRS) is a critical component of the double materiality process. It ensures that the perspectives, needs, and expectations of stakeholders are systematically identified, understood, and integrated into sustainability reporting. This approach supports comprehensive, transparent, and accountable disclosures, aligning with the Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD) requirements.
In this lesson, students will learn about the critical role of stakeholder assessment in sustainability reporting under the European Sustainability Reporting Standards (ESRS). They will explore the definition and categorization of stakeholders, the objectives of stakeholder engagement, and the structured processes used to prioritize and address stakeholder concerns. Additionally, they will be introduced to various methods and tools, such as stakeholder matrices, interviews, and digital platforms, to facilitate effective engagement and data analysis.
By the end of the lesson, students will understood how to integrate stakeholder feedback into materiality assessments to enhance transparency, accountability, and alignment with organizational goals. This knowledge empowers students to apply stakeholder assessment principles in professional contexts, supporting the creation of comprehensive and impactful sustainability strategies.
