SUMMARY
Welcome to TFKN+ “Hybrid Additive Manufacturing Overview” Lesson.
In this lesson, you will explore the key aspects of Hybrid Manufacturing Processes and how the result of the combined hybrid process can become greater than the sum of the individual processes.
You will dive into the benefits, limitations and implementation of Hybrid Additive-Subtractive Manufacturing Processes and realize how AM and SM can complement each other to produce and/or repair high-end parts with increased performance and lower lead times.
Let’s get started!

About The Author
The Laboratory for Manufacturing Systems & Automation (LMS) is oriented on research and development in cutting edge scientific and technological fields. LMS is involved in a number of research projects funded by the CEU and European industrial partners. Particular emphasis is given to the co-operation with the European industry as well as with a number of “hi-tech” firms.
Learning outcomes
- After the end of the lesson, learners will be able to define and classify the different types of Hybrid Manufacturing Processes.
- After the end of the lesson, learners will be able to define Hybrid Additive - Subtractive Manufacturing, including the most prevalent setups and AM technologies.
- After the end of the lesson, learners will be able to define the benefits and limitations of Hybrid Additive Subtractive processes.
