Target:
Professionals, Students
This Learning Path gives the learner an introductory information on sound and acoustics, with examples in industry. It also provides insights into sound transmission and its mitigation, using optimized acoustics by employing advanced manufacturing. Advanced sound absorbing structures, so called Triply Periodic Minimum Surface (TPMS) structures, are described. TPMS design parameters and manufacturing options are displayed.
Learning outcomes
- The participants will be able to differentiate between the transmission, reflection and absorption of sound waves and determine characteristic values for sound propagation and absorption.
- The participants will be able to select suitable materials and damping measures based on given acoustic properties. The learner will be able to outline efficient damping structures consiting of TPMS geometries and compare TPMS lattices to select standard TPMS for dampening specific frequencies.
