Motivation is always an internal personal feeling, but there are internal and external motivating factors. Most people are driven by intrinsic rather than extrinsic motivation, meaning that they care more about the satisfaction they get from a particular job than the external rewards they receive for doing it. Therefore, most important contribution that a manager can make to the organization is to promote the creation of an appropriate working environment, conditions and recognition that will enable employees to achieve theirs.
