System availability is a metric used to measure the percentage of time an asset can be used for production. It calculates the probability that a system isn’t broken or down for preventive maintenance when it’s needed for production. It takes into consideration all of the events that could have interrupted planned production time, whenever it has been stopped for a significant period of time.
The most common riddle for all maintenance managers and engineers: “How can we increase uptime?”
Uptime is a measure of system reliability, expressed as the percentage of time a machine, typically a computer, has been working and available. Uptime is the opposite of downtime.
