This lesson presents data acquisition methods used to gather data from the machine tool and the machining process itself during the machining. These methods will be classified into categories according to several criteria: source of the data, type of the data, sampling frequency of the data, phase of the acquisition in relation of the process (in-process data vs. post-process data) etc. The methods must also respect the intended use of the data, which is to be the source for machine learning approach of artificial intelligence (to serve as training or test data for the ML model or to be base for decisions made by ML models during its use).
Learning outcomes
- The learner is able to list and describe different sources and types of data connected to the machining process and used in Machine learning and explain the methods of acquisition after completing this lesson.
