Entrepreneurship has been studied as an activity where entrepreneurs generate ideas with personal initiative and create a sequence of actions to turn them into business opportunities. It takes a long time and a lot of effort as well as support and good contextual conditions to transform an idea into a business.
This not only requires knowledge, resources and support but also personal skills of the entrepreneur.
These skills are related to the business and to other aspects related to the sector but also leadership skills.
Moreover, factors that are relevant in this process are the opportunity discovery/creation, the entrepreneurial risk and the development of the entrepreneur identity.
The process during which an entrepreneur discovers and exploits a business opportunity occurs within an entrepreneurship ecosystem where different actors interact.
Not only the actors, but the quality of this interaction of the actors of the entrepreneurship ecosystem (degree of trust, cooperation…) determines the performance and results in business creation in a region.
