Indoor localization systems are the technologies that can be used to determine the position and location of a physical asset or a machine inside the production facility. It is an important concept for the implementation of Digital Process Twins in the industry because using the indoor localization enhances the capability of a Digital Twin by adding a critical layer of accuracy and real-time data transfer.
As a result, incorporating both the concepts together helps the organizations to be more accurate, responsive and productive. The same concept has been implemented in CiP at TU Darmstadt and is discussed in detail inside the Learning Nugget.
There can be several use cases of implementation of this concept in industry and each used case can have several advantages that can improve overall efficiency, productivity, strategic planning and decision-making in the production system. The concept along with its several advantages has been discussed throughout the nugget.
Learning outcomes
- After completion of this nugget, learners will be able to understand the concept of indoor localization in terms of production industry and key technologies that can be helpful for its implementation.
- Learners will be able to understand how indoor localization can be integrated in the production system with the help of a practical example.
- After completion, learners will be able to realize the benefits that can be gained through implementation of indoor localization in the modern industry.
