General Introduction to Artificial Intellingence in Manufacturing

A general introduction into Artificial Intelligence and Manufacturing.After a personal
introduction of Jan Post, the content of the three introduction nuggets is
shortly explained. EIT manufacturing is introduced as an innovation community
in Europe, connecting industry, academic and research partners. The approach of
the course is explained, focussing on AI in manufacturing for all levels of
technical education. Based on innovation but also on impact for the industry.
The history of AI is introduced, starting from 1950 and the definition of AI is
discussed, concluding that there is not one clear definition of AI. AI has to
do with humanity, acting and computational intelligence. Interesting literature
is introduced and a most simple example of AI. The nugget closes with the EU
horizon program on AI for the coming years.
