Self- organized agile teams represent an organizational approach that aims to achieve a more agile organization. This is, an organization with the capacity to respond quickly and effectively to changing demands and contexts. These agile teams can be characterized as small teams, focused on customer value, driven by a purpose, autonomous and collaborative (internally and externally), cross-functional with committed people, which remain stable, and that practice, learn and improve together.
Agile teams need the context of what Denning calls the reinvented organization, where there is a shift in the goal from making money for shareholders to providing a continuous stream of additional value to customers. This means that the organization is based on and shares values that will grow the business by generating innovation and customer delight, rather than focusing solely on economic value.
