The Fourth Industrial Revolution, 4IR, or Industry 4.0, conceptualizes rapid change to technology, industries, and societal patterns and processes in the 21st century due to increasing interconnectivity and smart automation.
Industry 4.0 is a vision that evolved from an initiative to make the German manufacturing industry more competitive (‘Industrie 4.0’) to a globally adopted term, that dates back only a few years back. In this nugget we are about to explore common I4.0 technologies, with a special focus on the more tangible ones (rather than software ones).
Learning outcomes
- Support the concept of Industry 4.0
- Apply the key technologies of Industry 4.0
- Interpret the usage of I4.0 devices and software towards PdM implementation
