Co-creation is the first phase of the Do It Together process. It involves social ideation and product co-design between consumers and designers, with access to production resources to ensure the feasibility and validation of the designs.
In the context of bespoke furniture design, consumers and designers need to work together to generate new ideas and solutions to meet a specific need, so they need appropriate social media and software to generate and visualise product data, including 3D files.
The creation and manipulation of 3D data by consumers is not easy, but essential to foster collaboration between different stakeholders. 3D interactive technologies, such as augmented and virtual reality, have been identified as a key enabling technology for the Do It Together approach.
This nugget focuses on the co-creation steps and a possible implementation in terms of social media, tools and software to ensure effective collaboration between stakeholders.
