This comprehensive training program is designed to equip printing professionals with the knowledge and tools necessary to manage color with precision and optimize production in offset environments. The course integrates color theory, printing technology, and advanced quality control systems into a cohesive learning path that balances theory and practical application.
Participants will begin by exploring the fundamentals of color theory, including the nature of light and color, human visual perception, and the concepts of color spaces, metamerism, and ΔE (color difference). This theoretical grounding is essential for understanding how color behaves in different lighting conditions and materials.
The next phase of the course focuses on offset printing technology, providing a technical overview of the offset process, from plate creation and ink transfer to paper behavior and machine calibration. Attention is given to the factors that influence print consistency, such as ink-water balance, dot gain, and press maintenance.
In the practical modules, participants will work with SpectroDens, a professional-grade spectrophotometer, to learn how to measure solid ink densities, tone value increase (TVI), gray balance, and color deviation according to industry standards like ISO 12647-2. Through guided exercises, they will learn to evaluate and adjust print jobs to meet client specifications and ensure quality control.
The course also introduces InkZone, a software platform for real-time control and automation of ink zone settings. Participants will learn how to connect measurement data from SpectroDens to InkZone for fast and accurate ink key adjustments, improving efficiency, reducing startup times, and minimizing waste.
By the end of the training, learners will be able to confidently:
- Understand and apply the principles of color theory in a printing context
- Analyze and interpret spectrophotometric data using SpectroDens
- Calibrate and maintain offset printing equipment for consistent output
- Apply ISO standards to assess and control print quality
- Use InkZone to automate and optimize ink control in real production settings
This course is ideal for press operators, quality control technicians, prepress specialists, and production managers who are looking to elevate their expertise in color management and bring greater accuracy and efficiency to their printing processes.
