Green manufacturing is a recurrent topic in the sector that has evolved since the term was originated. Today, green manufacturing is accepted to cover those technologies which contribute to add value to materials turning them into products under environmental, societal, and economic criteria. Recently two relevant and global challenges appeared. On the one hand, the need of a transition towards a circular economy (CE) system where materials value added throughout manufacturing is maintained as much as possible. On the other hand, the shift towards a net zero industry that counteracts the effects of global warming. For both challenges, green manufacturing is expected to play a key role in achieving their goals. The raise of manufacturing technologies to either repair or remanufacture, or the optimization in the consumption of environmentally friendly resources are some examples of the contributions green manufacturing will make.
