SUMMARY
In this lesson, learners will focus on developing Augmented Reality (AR) applications specifically designed for remote maintenance support. The course will guide them through the process of designing and implementing microservices tailored for AR applications, enabling scalable and modular solutions for remote maintenance scenarios. Learners will explore how to create and integrate platforms for seamless real-time remote communication, allowing maintenance personnel to collaborate efficiently with experts or technicians from any location. Additionally, the lesson will cover building AR modules that facilitate remote interventions in augmented environments, allowing users to perform diagnostics, repairs, or adjustments remotely through desktop applications.

About The Author
The Laboratory for Manufacturing Systems & Automation (LMS) of the Department of Mechanical Engineering & Aeronautics, in the University of Patras, Greece, is under the supervision of Professor George Chryssolouris and is oriented on research & development in cutting edge scientific & technological fields. LMS employs approximately 70 researchers organized in three different groups focusing on Manufacturing Processes Modelling & Energy Efficiency, Robots, Automation & Virtual Reality in Manufacturing and Manufacturing Systems. LMS has significant experience in the area of Production Systems Planning, Control & Networking, focused on the development, software implementation and use of advanced tools based on Artificial Intelligence methods for production systems planning and control and for the development of intelligent internet-based applications addressing the enterprise-wide business activities.
