Type of course:
Digital learning, Journey
Language:
EN
Duration:
1 hour, 10 minutes
Proficiency:
Beginner
Target:
Professionals, Workers
This learning path aims at giving an overview of the different threading methods such as thread turning, thread milling and tapping, including the different techniques or tips that should be used to carry out those operations.
An insight on the main characteristics and critical aspects of each one of the previous listed operations is given, together with a presentation of the more widespread available systems, tools and inserts, pointing out the advantages/disadvantages of each one in relation with the final desired quality or productivity constraints.
Guidelines will be also given for the selection and management of the machining tools and their related machining strategies, eventually exploiting interactive tools that can be found online or downloaded as applications on mobile devices.
Learning outcomes
- The learner is able to appraise threading requirements and to select the most efficient threading technique for each specific operation, considering quality, precision, tolerance, and productivity constraints.
- The learner is able to value and choose the optimal threading system and tool configuration by utilizing dedicated online tools or applications.
- The learner is able to select a machining strategy for threading operations using dedicated online tools or applications and is able to validate it by implementing the strategy on the machine by analyzing critically and measuring the resulting thread, determining if adjustments to the machining parameters are necessary for improvement.
