This module introduces students to applications of CPS/IoT in industry and illustrates how these concepts are used to increase the efficiency, adaptability and resilience of manufacturing systems.

By attending this module, learners will get introduced to the topics of CPS/IoT

:i) platforms and orchestration,

ii) dashboards and digital twins,

iii) transparency and reconfiguration,

iv) fault detection and diagnosis.


Learning outcomes

  1. Describe the key components of CPS/IoT systems used in manufacturing, including platforms and orchestration, dashboards and digital twins, transparency and reconfiguration, and fault detection and diagnosis.
  2. Evaluate and propose improvements to a given manufacturing system using CPS/IoT concepts, by analyzing the system's performance and identifying potential areas for improvement, and applying appropriate solutions.
  3. Understand key technologies of CPS/IoT systems used in manufacturing, including platforms and orchestration, dashboards and digital twins, transparency and reconfiguration, and fault detection and diagnosis.
