This learning path describes Application Programming Interfaces (APIs) in general and the two most popular kinds of API are also detailed. Besides, the learning path summarises how to create an API and how it works. It is also shown how to create a REST API in Python. This learning path provides a short description of programmable logic controllers (PLCs) and also presents different communication protocols as well as different methodologies in connection with data collection from manufacturing, including some example codes in each method.<br>
Learning outcomes
- After completing the learning path, the learner can identify how to connect to an industrial device and collect data from the device with standard industrial protocols.
- After completing the learning path, the learner can classify manufacturing data and the student is able to locate it in practical environment.
- After completing the learning path, the learner is able to interpret how to build a solution which could handle manufacturing data.
