SUMMARY
Discover the future of manufacturing with the STILFOLD process, a cutting-edge technology that uses industrial origami to create lightweight, durable 3D structures from flat metal sheets. This lesson covers how Stilfold uses the principles of origami to utilize precision folding in flat metal sheets to create complex, durable 3D structures with minimal waste. Learn about the core principles of the origami-inspired patented curve-folding process and the key steps in the process chain, required to design and manufacture a component through Stilfold.

About The Author
Pannon Business Network is the collaborative center for applied research, training and advanced manufacturing to catalyse value creation by digitalization as active catalyst of the ecosystem. Linked to industry, academia and citizens, it is facilitating digital, human-centred, resilient and green transformation with focus on business and healthy ageing through its connected divisions. The 18-year consequent building resulted in three complementary organisation units, and one of them focuses on advanced manufacturing and this unit is called am-LAB which is a DIH. It focuses on digital technologies, robotics, data science, extended reality and 3D technologies. A broad portfolio of connected technological devices is available in the laboratory, with in-house engineering staff.
Teaching Factory Competence Center AMKE (TF CC) is a center for Training of Human Resources, Development and Application of innovative technologies in Industry. The Competence Center is based on the “Teaching Factory” manufacturing education paradigm; a model that aims at developing an effective connection between universities / educational institutions and modern industrial and business practice. TF CC is oriented towards providing education and innovation services to the manufacturing industry. The competence center focuses on facilitating knowledge exchange between academia and industry and on creating added value for the services and products of manufacturing companies by promoting innovative technology and research activities performed by academia. For this purpose, TF CC provides a set of Learning Services and Innovative Technical Services to its customers aiming for Interdisciplinary learning, research & experimentation and exploitation of research results towards industrial applicability.
