About The Author

The Laboratory for Manufacturing Systems & Automation (LMS) of the Department of Mechanical Engineering & Aeronautics, in the University of Patras, Greece, is under the supervision of Professor George Chryssolouris and is oriented on research & development in cutting edge scientific & technological fields. LMS employs approximately 70 researchers organized in three different groups focusing on Manufacturing Processes Modelling & Energy Efficiency, Robots, Automation & Virtual Reality in Manufacturing and Manufacturing Systems. LMS has significant experience in the area of Production Systems Planning, Control & Networking, focused on the development, software implementation and use of advanced tools based on Artificial Intelligence methods for production systems planning and control and for the development of intelligent internet-based applications addressing the enterprise-wide business activities.
