This nugget provides a theoretical introduction and overview of the field of International Data Spaces, focusing on the essential concepts outlined in the IDS Reference Model. Its purpose is to present and explain these foundational principles in a clear and concise manner as a stepping stone for the more practical applications of dataspaces. This nugget covers the core participants in an IDS ecosystem (Data Owner, Data Provider, Data Consumer, Data User, App Provider,…) and their interactions. It cover the intermediary participants as well (Broker Service Provider, Clearing House, Identity Provider, App Store Provider, Vocabulary Provider,…). This nugget also covers how trust is established via certificates, attribute tokens, logging and contracts, as well as the theoretical aspects of the main processes in IDS, such as Onboarding, Data Offering, Contract Negotiation, Data Exchange, among others.
