SUMMARY
This XR training journey introduces a structured and progressive learning experience in virtual product disassembly, blending immersive XR technologies with solid pedagogical design. Through a carefully sequenced process, learners gradually build competence from basic component recognition to performing full disassembly procedures, using interactive and immersive tools. The proposed journey integrates technical accuracy, safety standards, and sustainable practices, ensuring that each virtual experience supports real-world readiness and lifelong learning objectives.
This path serves as the first step into the world of virtual disassembly, introducing learners to the key concepts and practices required for safe and efficient work with mechatronic products. Participants will discover the most common mechanical and electrical connectors, learn the basic sequences for taking a product apart, and become familiar with the essential safety equipment and procedures that underpin all disassembly operations.
The lessons combine concise explanations, multimedia resources, and interactive materials to prepare learners for upcoming hands-on XR experiences. By the end of this path, participants will be ready to recognize critical components, understand the logic of step-by-step disassembly, and see how each operation supports resource recovery and sustainable practices in real-world scenarios.

About The Author
Claudio Favi is currently a Assistant Professor at the Department of Engineering for Industrial Systems and Technologies – University of Parma (IT). He got a bachelor degree in Mechanical Engineering and a master degree in Materials Engineering. He received his Ph.D. degree in Mechanical Engineering and Management in 2013.
